Born on August 11th 1973 in Purley,Nigel was a typical middle class Surrey boy,the son of a Bank Manager who attended Downside prep school in nearby Woldingham.

While at school,Nigel excelled in sport, rugby and cricket,he even played table tennis! Football was his passion and this love is as strong today as it was in his early years and he still finds time to follow  Crystal Palace whenever time allows.
Nigel's love of all things theatrical eminated from his Father Derek , who spent his spare time directing amateur productions around the South Coast, along with his Mother Maureen who took an active part in the productions,so we see at once just why Nigel was destined to tread the boards in such spectacular fashion..........born to be a star..........but the road was long and hard.......and Nigel was not the overnight success that many believe,he was very busy long before Eastenders!
His Mother was a driving force in Nigel's career, taking him to auditions and.at the sixth attempt,he finally landed a small part in an Oxo advert....he was eight years old and his career had begun. Sadly Maureen passed away when Nigel was seventeen and was never to see the success that he finally achieved.
